unbelievable. I honestly, cannot believe this came out as well as this, after being only my second color job in literally a year or two. This, to me, is professional quality, with only a few flaws that can be picked out. I swear, I think I either got lucky, or got divine guidance. I can only hope that my future work remains this good.

Anyway, this is the colored final form of the were orca I did for dragoniades contest. I'm fairly sure that I'm too late to submit this, but I do not mind at this point. Dragoniade, I hope you enjoy this pic as much as I do, and everyone else:D

did you paint that by hand?

Thanks for the compliment:) ...

And no, I didn't paint it by hand: I did draw it by hand when it was still pencil work, but I didn't have a tablet for hand-painting on the computer when this was released.

For the ink-work, I used a vector program, named Adobe Illustrator, which let me use anchor points and such to make super-smooth lines: each line is actually a pre-calculated mathmatical equation! Dunno how much Geometry you've done, but yeah, if you know about sine curve equations, that's where they come into play here.

As for the coloring, I had to use a mouse: I first selected the outline of each body part and saved the selections, so there was no way I could "accidentally" color outside the lines, then I filled it with a flat color, then added the shadows, lighting, shiney bits (specular highlights), and so forth. I suppose I technically colored it by hand, but using a computer mouse, not a paintbrush.

Lastly, the background is a photograph that I carefully blurred and blended to mix well with the orca subject. I blurred it so as to make it appear like a photograph, with the lens focused on the creature in the foreground, making the background appear out of focus.

I hope that answers your question! :) It might have been a long answer, but I wasn't 100% sure what you meant by painting by hand: it is a digital painting, not a real one.

Sweet TF dude. I really liked all the little side parts for the sequence, particularly the torso one. It was interesting to see how his chest expanded and the muscles sort of grew and spread apart. Neat!

Thanks Paleos:) not sure what more I can say on this one... oh, here you go, how about a flaw? if you look at the transformation section, his nipples are enlarging as his chest expands. but if you look at the final form, they're gone! This was because in the final form I initially forgot to add them, but later, I decided its more realistic in a way not to have them on him. If I had bothered to fix this flaw, his nipples would be absorbed pic by pic.

Yeah, I did notice, but I figured "hey maybe they disappeared between the sequence and final shot."

Simply amazing coloring.
You really come a long way since you started a few years back.

You're late by 1 day sadly, but that one sure deserves a mention!
